Cascade Level 12 (Grizzly) Here are some tips for this Repton 1 level: * Please do not read any further if you would prefer to figure this out yourself. 1. The most difficult part of this level is the central section that initially contains four unsupported eggs and many diamonds. Repton should stay well clear of the eggs as they are falling. When the eggs have fallen past him, collect the three diamonds immediately above, below and right of Repton in this screen picture. (There is an alternative plan for beginning this level – this idea was mentioned to us by one of the top Repton players, Andrew Ives: at the start of this level, slide Repton under the falling egg to his left. With practice and careful timing it is possible to cause Repton to catch the egg on his head without the egg cracking; wait for one of the monsters to come up towards Repton, then release the egg by moving Repton. At least one of the monsters should be killed by the falling egg, but sometimes the egg will hit three monsters.) 2. Quickly move Repton to the position shown in the picture below, and pause a while until the four monsters congregate below the barrier. 3. Repton is now safe to collect the diamonds in the top-right area. He can collect the two diamonds shown on his right in this picture, but he should not move any further lower - otherwise one of the monsters may pursue him. 4. Collect all the diamonds in the top-right area until Repton reaches the position shown. Now take the diamond to the left of the Repton. 5. Move Repton to the following position. 6. The map should now look like this. Pause Repton in this position for a few seconds (up to eight seconds) to allow time for the monsters to all congregate together. Next, move Repton two spaces to the left collecting the diamond, and quickly take the two diamonds above him as well. 7. The monsters will now be in hot pursuit, so move Repton to the right and down until he reaches the following position. Pause a while, and then proceed to clear all the diamonds in the bottom-right area. 8. Move Repton until he arrives at this position. 9. The map should now look like this. 10. Collect the two diamonds one space to the left of Repton, and move him to this location. 11. Here is the map reference. Pause for a while (two or three seconds), and then move Repton two spaces to the left and quickly down collecting the four diamonds below him. 12. The monsters are on the loose following Repton now. Swiftly move Repton to the bottom-right corner of this section, then up to the top-right corner. Quickly move him to the left and then down to the location shown. These manoeuvres may require some practice, but if Repton moves smoothly the monsters will tend to group below the barrier in this picture. 13. Here is the appearance of the map at this stage. 14. Now Repton is safe to collect all the diamonds in the top-left area. Clear all the diamonds in the vicinity until Repton reaches this position. Then collect the three diamonds just below Repton, but don't move him any lower than that. 15. Move Repton to this position. Take a deep breath, and briefly move Repton two spaces to the right. 16. As soon as the monsters start to follow him, move Repton to the left until the left-hand side barrier is reached, and then quickly position Repton under this barrier. 17. The map should now look like this, with many of the diamonds cleared from the central section of this level. 18. Repton can now collect most of the remaining diamonds in his vicinty, but leave three diamonds while last: the diamond depicted in this picture, and the two diamonds in the same column below this diamond. When only these three diamonds remain, move Repton so that he swiftly takes this diamond and two diamonds below, and without delay head for the exit at the bottom-left corner of this section. 19. In Repton 1 it is not essential to kill the monsters, so Repton can escape leaving the monsters in the central section. 20. Here is the cleared central area. Now the right-hand side section should be handled next, and with care the remaining parts of the level are reasonably straightforward to complete.
