It's here! The eagerly awaited PC version of Repton 1 is available now from the Superior Interactive website. There is a free trial version showing the new-style graphics and including the first three levels of the Starter scenario. You can freely pass this trial version to your family and friends, put it on a CD-ROM, or place it on your website. Please do – we would like to spread the word about Repton far and wide around the world! The free trial version of Repton 1 makes an intriguing taster for anyone who is new to these games; it features a gradual build-up of well-known Repton techniques: The full version of Repton 1 is pure entertainment at its best, containing:
The Starter scenario begins with a series of fairly easy levels, progressing into the trickier Level 11 (Giant Clam) through to Level 15; followed by a rewarding final level. The Cascade scenario is more challenging, and the screenshots on the right and below show 2 of the 16 levels from Cascade. These levels are named after usually well-known cascades or waterfalls, and some of the levels have a definite cascade feel with torrents of falling rocks. Even the most skilful Repton players are likely to find food for thought in these recently designed Cascade levels. The new screenshot facility enables you to take screenshots of the game or map screens, which may be very useful on some of these harder levels: save a screenshot and show it to a friend to figure out how the level can be completed. For an alternative Repton experience, try the Backspace and Tab keys.
The Repton 1 Hall of Fame is now ready and waiting for the top players who can complete the main 16-level scenarios, Starter and Cascade, without Repton losing a life. The score is important too of course – see if you can achieve the highest possible score on each of the main scenarios! The software allows you to register your score when you complete Starter or Cascade while preserving all of Repton's lives.
On the full version of Repton 1, we are offering you a special 15% discount up to the end of December, which is available when you enter your Superior Interactive Registration / Discount Code in the website's online shopping system. The basic price with 15% discount is $16.95, and you can also pay (by credit card or PayPal) in British pounds, Euros, Canadian dollars, or yen. The current discounted price is £9.95 in sterling. After you have attempted all (or most) of the Repton 1 levels, please let us know which level you find to be the most enjoyable - maybe it's a very difficult level, or perhaps an easyish level with a special twist? There are two marauding monster levels, Starter Level 11 (Giant Clam) and Cascade Level 12 (Grizzly); can you devise a method for completing each of these levels every time without fail? Repton 1 has been programmed by David Bratton, who is now working on a PC version of Repton 2, which will be available soon. David has brought Tim Tyler's Repton concept to life for PC fans, and the customer comments at the Superior Interactive website show that the Repton games are held in very high regard. Several customers have suggested that they are the best games of all time - that's remarkable praise, but please judge for yourself: the free trial version allows you to experience our green friend Repton as he starts his challenge! Happy Reptoning! Richard Hanson, Superior Interactive |
